Characteristics of Precious Stones (Diamonds)

As is well known, precious stones (diamonds) are distinguished by their 4 basic characteristics commonly known as 4c (color, clarity, cut and carat weight).

  • Color, classify them in color grades from colorless to colored D - E- F - G - H - I - J - K - L - M.
  • Clarity we rate them with 11 levels of purity FL - IF - VVS1 - VVS2 - VS1 - VS2 - SI1 - SI2 - I1 - I2 - I3.
  • Cut, the degree of cut is based on several factors. We call them EXCELLENT - VERY GOOD - GOOD - FAIR - POOR.
  • Carat weight (carats) diamonds are sold by the carat (ct.). It is actually a unit of weight. One carat is equal to exactly 0.2 grams.
